Men’s Fraternity Network - "A Man & His Marriage" Study Guide

 

Overview

Join us as we embark on a transformative journey through A Man & His Marriage, a powerful study designed to explore God’s design for marriage, the challenges men face, and practical strategies for building strong, faith-centered relationships. This study will encompass:

  • Weekly Chapter Readings: Delve into each chapter to gain insights and understanding.

  • Corresponding Video Sessions: Watch engaging videos that complement the reading material.

  • Small Group Discussions: Participate in intimate discussions that promote sharing and reflection.

  • Testimonies & Group Reflections: Share personal experiences and insights, fostering accountability and growth.

Each chapter will be followed by a dedicated Discussion Week, allowing for deeper reflection and the application of concepts learned.

 

Study Format

Each week will follow this structured approach:

  1. Reading & Video Week: Read the assigned chapter and watch the corresponding video, followed by small group discussions.

  2. Discussion & Testimony Week: Groups share insights, personal experiences, and testimonies related to the previous chapter’s topic, encouraging openness and support.

Weekly Breakdown

Week 1: The Purpose of Marriage (Chapter 1 & Video)

  • Overview: Introduce the concept of marriage as God’s design, emphasizing its significance in life and faith.

  • Reading Assignment: Explore Chapter 1 to understand the foundational purpose of marriage and the unique roles of husbands.

  • Video Session: Watch a video that illustrates God’s intention for marriage, highlighting key principles discussed in the chapter.

  • Discussion: In small groups, discuss personal views on marriage, the challenges faced, and the role of faith in overcoming these challenges.

Week 2: Discussion & Testimonies (Reflect on Chapter 1)

  • Open Sharing: Reflect on the insights gained from Chapter 1 and the video.

  • Group Reflection: Encourage members to share personal experiences related to the purpose of marriage, how they live out their roles, and any challenges they’ve faced.

  • Testimony Time: Invite one or two members to share their testimonies regarding their marriage journey and the impact of faith in their relationships.

Week 3: Common Challenges in Marriage (Chapter 2 & Video)

  • Reading Assignment: Delve into Chapter 2 to identify the common challenges that couples face and the biblical perspectives on overcoming them.

  • Video Session: Watch a video that discusses specific challenges men encounter in marriage and provides practical advice for addressing them.

  • Discussion: Engage in small group discussions, focusing on identifying personal challenges in marriage and exploring ways to navigate them through faith.

Week 4: Discussion & Testimonies (Reflect on Chapter 2)

  • Open Sharing: Share insights and experiences regarding challenges faced in marriage.

  • Group Reflection: Discuss strategies that have worked for individuals in overcoming challenges and fostering stronger relationships.

  • Testimony Time: Encourage sharing of stories about overcoming specific challenges and how faith played a role in these situations.

Week 5: Communication & Conflict Resolution (Chapter 3 & Video)

  • Reading Assignment: Read Chapter 3 to learn effective communication techniques and conflict resolution strategies based on biblical principles.

  • Video Session: Watch a video that provides additional insights into improving communication and resolving conflicts within marriage.

  • Discussion: Small groups will discuss personal experiences with communication in marriage and share techniques that have helped in resolving conflicts.

 

Week 6: Discussion & Testimonies (Reflect on Chapter 3)

Week 7: Intimacy & Emotional Connection (Chapter 4 & Video)

  • Reading Assignment: Explore Chapter 4, focusing on the importance of emotional and spiritual intimacy in a marriage.

  • Video Session: Watch a video that highlights ways to foster deeper connections and understanding between spouses.

  • Discussion: Engage in small group discussions on strategies to enhance intimacy and emotional connections, sharing personal experiences and insights.

 

Week 8: Discussion & Testimonies (Reflect on Chapter 4)

Week 9: Leadership & Responsibility as a Husband (Chapter 5 & Video)

  • Reading Assignment: Read Chapter 5 to understand the biblical model of leadership in marriage and the responsibilities of a husband.

  • Video Session: Watch a video that discusses how men can lead their families with love, humility, and strength.

  • Discussion: In small groups, discuss the challenges and rewards of being a leader in marriage and share personal experiences related to this role.

 

Week 10: Discussion & Testimonies (Reflect on Chapter 5)

  • Open Sharing: Reflect on key points from Chapter 5 and discuss leadership experiences within marriage.

  • Group Reflection: Share successes and struggles in fulfilling the role of a husband and leader.

Week 11: Overcoming Past Hurts & Forgiveness (Chapter 6 & Video)

  • Discussion: Engage in small groups, discussing personal experiences with forgiveness and the impact of past hurts on current relationships.

 

Week 12: Discussion & Testimonies (Reflect on Chapter 6)

  • Group Reflection: Share personal stories of healing and reconciliation, discussing how faith has facilitated forgiveness.

  • Testimony Time: Encourage sharing of testimonies related to overcoming past hurts and the transformative power of forgiveness in marriage.

 

Week 13: Final Reflections & Brotherhood

  • Open Floor: Provide space for all groups to share key takeaways and transformative experiences throughout the study.

  • Discussion: Reflect on how the study has impacted members’ marriages and their relationships with God.
